The
Graphical User Interface of DESiGN-CONTROL enables users,
with no HTML programming knowledge, to easily define where
and how rich media elements will be displayed on the website.
Rich Media content, such as Video, PowerPoint Slides, Graphics,
text and Flash animations, are seamlessly integrated into
your website design. This tool provides an easy way for
web designers to create customised designs and to maintain
a corporate image by allowing an easy way to change colours
and to combine logos.
Using
simple 'drag & drop' operation allows Web Designers
to integrate complex and interactive elements, such as,
player controls, chat windows, vote and feedback forms into
the web page layout. A 'Web Objects' command allows virtually
any web based object to be incorporated into the web page.
These could be Flash animations, links to other sites or
services.
This
powerful tool saves both the page layout and all the 'back-end'
technical details, such as the FTP and Media Server IP addresses
and file locations. The Web Designer can 'lock down' these
details if required to ensure a that robust and trouble
free webcast can be made by users and not necessarily by
specialist technicians.
We used
this tool to create the web page used to present the product
tutorial listed below in less than 10 minutes.
The
following Rich Media Presentations took us less than an
hour to assemble from the required rich media components.
Although we had the basic format completed in less than
15 minutes, the remainder of the time was spent in 'fine-tuning'
the slide synchronisations to get the desired slide changes
within 1/100 of a second. Once we were happy with the finished
presentation, we exported it sumultaneously in both REAL
and Windows Media formats. We only exported them to a single
bandwidth speed but they could have been exported to multiple
bandwidth settings for each media presentation format just
as easily.
To get
the full benefit of the presentation you will need to have
a connection speed of 128Kb or better. If you have a slower
connection, you should still be able to hear the presentations
and see the slides, but the video may be a bit slow. If
you want to use these products for your own applications,
the presentations can be set to use slower connection speeds
and correspondingly smaller video windows.
